Warren Lucas is an Exercise Scientist, registered for a PhD in Medicine (Exercise Science) at the University of Cape Town, and a PhD Scientist Intern at the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Research Unit of the South African Medical Research Council.

Warren obtained his Masters in Sport, Recreation and Exercise Science at the University of the Western Cape, and has published in peer-reviewed, internationally accredited academic journals on surgical site infections, health and wellbeing through sport participation, and substance use/abuse and recovery lifestyles, respectively.

He is also a Lecturer at the ETA College in Cape Town, teaching Anatomy and Exercise Physiology, Clinical Skills, Biomechanics and Training Principles to students pursuing careers in for health and wellness. Currently, Warren’s research involves the design and implementation of a patient-centered exercise and sport intervention for young people with substance use disorders in treatment centres across South Africa.
