Dr Rodger Meyer has been an addiction treatment specialist for most of his professional life.
He obtained his MBChB, Medicine – from the University of Cape Town in 1979. Dr Meyer has hugely contributed to the development of the recovery industry in South Africa and more specifically Cape Town. Today South Africa is known for the excellent standard in the treatment of various addictions – and he played no small role in this.
In the early years of his practice, he introduced and implemented the Minnesota Model to treatment facilities. He started many clinics, managed and trained clinical teams, was involved in addiction treatment program development and later became responsible for facility management and quality control.
For ten years he was the Treatment Director for the National Responsible Gambling Program.
He also was the Director of Kenilworth Treatment Clinic, where he worked for 15 years.
Today Dr. Meyer is the Director of Tharagay Manor, Tharagay House, Tharagay Place and GGZ Rustenburg Addiction Care in Somerset West.
